A curated book showcasing the visual art of experimental musician John Cage, while telling the story of his most famous composition: ‘4’33.”
The book is adapted from a transcript Will Hermes’ report “The Story of ‘4’33,” which aired on NPR’s All Things Considered on May 8, 2000. It utilizes typography to accompany a narrative of how the artist stretched sound to its boundary. The illustrations are treatments of Cage’s illustration work.
